What to Wear for a Sunset Vow Renewal or Anniversary Shoot
What you wear should let you enjoy the light under a glowing sunset.
Short summer reads…
Outfit questions arrive early for vow renewals and anniversary shoots. People worry about matching, about wind, about looking "anniversary enough". The honest answer is simpler: wear something that feels like you, that copes with North Wales weather, and that still looks alive in golden light.
Colours at Golden Hour
Sunset light is warm. Creams, soft blues, sage, rust, deep green and dusty pink tend to sit well in it. Harsh pure white can flare in strong sun; a softer ivory or textured fabric often photographs more kindly. Patterns are fine if they're not so busy they take over every frame.
You don't have to match. Sitting in the same colour family is enough.
Layers for the Coast and the Hills
Even in summer, a North Wales evening can turn cool once the sun drops. A light jacket, shawl or overshirt you'll actually wear beats a statement coat that stays in the car. If you're on the coast, assume wind. Secure hair, avoid anything that needs constant adjusting, and keep jewellery simple enough that it won't catch or rattle through vows.
Shoes for Sand and Grass
This is where ceremony outfits most often go wrong. Heels in soft sand, polished shoes on wet grass, new soles on rock. Choose footwear you can walk in for twenty minutes without thinking about it. Many couples bring a smarter pair for a few standing portraits and something sturdier for the rest.

Dress Codes Without the Stress
A vow renewal isn't obliged to look like a wedding reboot. Some couples wear the original dress and suit. Some wear something completely new. Some dress as they would for a special evening meal. All of those are right if they feel right.

A Quick Packing List
As well as the outfit itself, bring a small bag with tissues, a hair tie, a lip balm and a spare layer. If you're exchanging rings again, practise opening the box once at home. If you're barefoot for photographs on sand, keep socks or shoes within reach for the walk back. Little comforts keep the evening about each other rather than logistics.
Comfort photographs better than perfection. Choose clothes that let you hold each other without fidgeting.
Wear something that lets you walk, breathe and forget the mirror for an evening.
