A Sunset Anniversary in Ibiza: What It Could Look Like

An anniversary doesn't have to stay close to home, under a glowing sunset.

Short summer reads…

Twilight Ceremonies is based in North Wales, where the sunsets are hard to beat. But if you've ever wondered whether an anniversary could happen somewhere warmer, I'm happy to say Ibiza is an option.

I should be honest first. I haven't done an experience abroad yet, so this isn't something I've already delivered. It's an idea I'd be glad to build with the right couple, and here's how I picture it.

The Idea in a Nutshell

If you'd like an experience in Ibiza, we'd travel around some stunning places in the day, with food, fun and sun, before taking to the beach in the evening for a sunset experience. I have a passport and I'm all up for it.

Because it's a day experience, the order would be simple: you fly out, the experience begins the next day, and the day after that you fly home.

A Day of Stunning Places

The daytime part is about enjoying the island together. We'd travel between places you choose, with time to eat, have a laugh and soak up the sun. It's more of a day out with a camera than a formal shoot, and the aim is for you to forget about everything at home.

I'd ask about the places you've always wanted to see, and we'd plan a route to match. That could be a stretch of coast, a village you'd like to wander through or a spot that's meant something to you since an earlier holiday. I won't promise particular venues here, because the plan would be built with you rather than pulled from a brochure.

The pace matters too. Holidays can feel rushed, with a list to tick off, so I'd rather keep the day relaxed. Stop for lunch when you're hungry, linger where it feels right and leave the clock to me.

Sunset on the Beach

The evening is for the beach, and that's where the sunset experience happens. Closer to home, my summer anniversaries are built around a personalised sunset ceremony and candid photographs, and we'd talk about what suits you here in the same way. The detail would be worked out together, and the difference is the setting.

The sunset itself is the reason for being there. Ibiza is known for its coastline, and the Wikimedia photographs on this page show a few of the places where the sun goes down over the water, from a rocky island to a small sandy cove. I haven't worked at any of them, so please treat them as inspiration, not a promise. When the time came, we'd choose a beach together, with the right mix of light, space and privacy for the two of you.

Before You Fly

If we did this, a few practical things would need sorting early, and the sooner the better. Check GOV.UK's entry requirements for Spain to make sure your passports meet the current rules, and read its travel advice for Spain before you book anything. Flights, accommodation and anything you'd like to include would also need discussing before a date is set. I'd also want to talk about what a ceremony needs in a location abroad, so that nothing is a surprise on the day. Weather, travel time, tides and the time of sunset all feed into the plan, and so does your own comfort. If you're not a confident flyer, or you'd prefer a slower pace, say so at the start. A trip like this should feel like a treat, not a logistical puzzle.

It Doesn't Have to Be Ibiza

Ibiza is the example here, but the same idea could work elsewhere. The shape would stay the same, with a day to explore, a beach for the evening and the two of you at the centre, whether it's a coastline in another country or a favourite stretch of shore closer to home. If there's a coastline you dream about, a place from your honeymoon or somewhere closer to home, tell me about it. For a more local option, my guide to anniversary photoshoot locations in North Wales and beyond has plenty of ideas, and you can say hello here if you'd like to chat about it.

If the sun is going to set anyway, you may as well watch it somewhere you'll remember.
